Lock on to keep the camera centered on a target.
You can also lock on to see a target's Life and Ki.

Ki
This gauge is used to perform actions such as attacking and guarding. The amount of Ki consumed depends on the type of attack performed or the attack being guarded against.
In Samurai Style, some of the Ki lost when attacking can be recovered with a Ki Pulse.
Martial Art
There are many Martial Arts unique to either the Samurai Style or the Ninja Style. In order to use different Martial Arts in succession, you'll need to activate Arts Proficiency.
With a few exceptions, acquired Martial Arts will need to be set up before use.
Guardian Spirit Skill
Guardian Spirit Skills are special attacks performed by expending Spirit Force. You gain Spirit Force by attacking enemies, and the Guardian Spirit Skill icon to the left of the Amrita Gauge glows when a Guardian Spirit Skill can be used.
Guardian Spirit Skills can be used to reduce a yokai's maximum Ki.

Living Artifact
When the Amrita Gauge (the Guardian Spirit icon to the left of the Life Gauge) is full, you can activate Living Artifact. While using Living Artifact, enemy attacks will be unable to kill you and you'll be able to use a special attack imbued with the attribute of your equipped Guardian Spirit.
The gauge depletes both over time and when enemy attacks are sustained. When the gauge is empty, Living Artifact ends.

Onmyo Magic
Onmyo Magic can be used to attack enemies. You can do so by using Onmyo Magic set to an item shortcut or by selecting it from "Items" in the Main Menu.
By setting a Soul Core in an Onmyo Box via the Shrine menu, you'll be able to use the corresponding Onmyo Magic. Onmyo Magic uses can be restored by praying at a shrine.

Style Shift

Burst Break
Enemies will at times use Burst Attacks, which are signaled by a red aura.
By switching styles at the perfect moment during an enemy's Burst Attack, you can interrupt the attack and inflict damage to their Life and Ki. Additionally, if the enemy is a yokai, their maximum Ki will be greatly reduced.
If you want to assign Style Shift and Burst Break to different buttons, head to "System" in the Main Menu to change the controls.
