You will encounter many shrines as you explore.

Praying restores your Life and a set number of elixirs. It will also respawn defeated enemies, however.

You can also access the Shrine menu by praying at a shrine.

When you die, you will revive at the last shrine at which you prayed.

You can also fast travel to any shrine you have unlocked.

Bodhisattva Statues appear throughout the Crucible. Praying at a Bodhisattva Statue has the same effects as praying at a shrine.

In the Crucible, however, you cannot fast travel unless near a Bodhisattva Statue.

You can trigger side quests by speaking with the NPCs and Shiei, or "death shadows," you encounter. By completing side quests, you can acquire equipment, skill points, and other rewards.

When a Myth is underway, you can view the objective on the map, and related information via "Progress" in the Main Menu.

By showing lost Kodama the way home, the number of elixirs you can replenish at shrines will increase. You'll also be rewarded with Kodama Merit.

Merit can be spent by accessing "Blessing" from the Shrine menu.

Pray at the Six Jizo to obtain Jizo Merit.

Chijiko are ball-shaped yokai that drift through the air and enjoy games of target practice. If you pet one after shooting it down, you can acquire items and other rewards.

Follow after a Scampuss and pet it to obtain items.

Their personalities and behavior differ in accordance with the pattern of their fur.

You can traverse a Spirit Vein by summoning the corresponding Guardian Spirit and interacting with it.

These are bases held by groups of humans or yokai. By defeating all of the enemies occupying a base, you can unlock shrines, acquire chests, and obtain various other rewards.

Additionally, once a base has been captured, its enemies will not respawn.

Speak to these veteran NPCs to initiate a duel. By winning in single combat against them, you can obtain special equipment and learn Martial Arts.

Note: You cannot engage in duels during online play or while accompanied by another NPC.
