Combat Basics

Flow of Battle

When exploring, coming into contact with a monster or hitting them by swinging at/shooting them will initiate combat.

Victory is yours if you can defeat all of the monsters by reducing their HP to 0. Conversely, you will be defeated if the HP of all of your party members reaches 0.

As long as your energy is at 50% or more, you can revive in the same spot if you are defeated.

If you don't have enough energy, you will lose some of your items and return to your most recently visited base.

Encounters

Depending on the types of monsters and the area, you may occasionally trigger special combat encounters.

There are a variety of encounter types, and each encounter has its own enemy layout and special set of battle conditions.

Types of Encounters
Split EncountersEvery enemy is in a separate combat area.
Rumble EncountersEvery enemy is in the same area.
Until every enemy's HP reaches 0, individual enemies will continue attacking and cannot be KO'd.

There are other types of special encounters to discover.

Try improving your characters' stats by leveling up, creating stronger equipment, etc.

- Make good use of guarding and evading

A red light will flash just before an enemy's attack hits.
You can avoid taking damage entirely if you guard or evade during this window of time.
