In addition to the traditional ruler gameplay, players have the option to play as a single officer, making it possible to be chivalric adventurer who roams with a regional ruler such as Liu Bei and eventually becoming emperor. Other major changes include a significant upgrade to the edit mode and changes to the strategic parts making gameplay easier to understand and more accessible than ever.
