To fulfill players' wishes of enjoying Lu Bu's storyline and more replayability, the stories for 7 characters including Lu Bu, Meng Huo and Yuan Shao were added as well as bodyguard customization, the addition of a fifth weapon and 4 new challenges in Challenge Mode. Through "MIX JOY", the bodyguard customization and Very Hard difficulty could be played in DYNASTY WARRIORS 3, as well as unlocking a fifth weapon for all officers appearing in the game.
