In order to synthesize, you need the recipe for the item you want to make, as well as the required ingredients.

Recipes are required in order to synthesize items.
You can learn recipes by reading reference books or by performing Recipe Morph.

Books that teach you item recipes when read.
You can purchase them from town shops or find them in treasure chests in the field.
Gift Colors
The colors that each ingredient has.
If you link Gift Colors together during synthesis, the ingredients' traits will be transferred to the synthesized item.
